Short Historical Sketch of Don Bosco English Medium School - Jumaikela (C.G)

Institution of Don Bosco, Jumaikela began on 1st November 1988. In the beginning it had parish which was carved out from the parish of Jokbhala and Ginabahar and entrusted to the Salesians by Rev. Victor Kindo, D.D Bishop of Raigarh, then the centre belonged to Kolkata province. Initially the mission of the parish consisted of parish apostolate and hostel for the boys of the near and far away places. Eventually it opened the non-formal Technical Institute in order to cater to the need of the youngsters of the locality. At present the community functions under the following sectors’; Parish, Hostel, D B Tech and English Medium School. Let me pen down something about the Don Bosco English Medium School, Jumaikela.

Don Bosco English Medium School is a school, with lots of potentiality and positivity. The School is situated at Jumaikela village, 23 kilometers away from Kunkuri city, the business hub of the area. And 9 Kilometers away from Bandarchuwa and Goreya still another two business hubs of the locality. It is situated in the lap of nature. It is surrounded by hills and trees, brooks and rivers all around. It is away from the hustle and bustle of city life. There is calmness and silence in and all around our school which creates a beautiful atmosphere for the little children to learn, to assimilate, to grow and to develop their intellect and whole human person. Thus we find a perfect environment for education.

The school was started by Fr. Valerius Lakra, sdb in the month of April 2011. Since then it has completed twelve years. Within this short span of its Existence School is well known among the people. The school has received its recognition from the district Educational officer and is affiliated to Chhattisgarh Board of education.

It has strength of one hundred and ninety five students in ten different classes i.e., from Nursery to Class VIII, out of which 80% are Christina and 20% are Non-Christians. At present there are two Salesians and ten teaching staff and four supportive staff members who are rendering their valuable services for the well running of the School.

Every day School begins with a prayer and with a message for the day. We have regular elocution class to improve the pronunciation of the students. The School has got well organized time table. It conducts Co-curricular activities like-Singing Competition, Poem Recitation Competition in Hindi and English, Drawing Competition, Rangoli Competition, Don Bosco Quiz Competition, G.k Competition, Table quiz Competition, Games , Fancy Dress Competition etc., in order to develop and enhance confidence and Self-esteem of the students. The School has a system. It has head boy and head girl. The students are entirely divided into four different houses with its leader and assistant. Each class has its monitor and assistant monitor. It has nice and beautiful uniforms wore in the different days of the week.
